Meet Jeff Wood

Meet Jeff Wood

For more than 20 years, Star has been home for Jeff Wood and his family. Jeff and his wife of 35 years have raised four children here; Chris (37), Halston (30), Ryker (22), and Kenley (15). Their family’s story is one of resilience and blessings: their oldest son, who is deaf, is married with two children of his own; their youngest, Kenley, was adopted and joined their family at just three days old. Today Halston and his wife live in Hawaii, while Ryker is attending BYU–Idaho. Jeff’s wife also serves the community as a real estate agent with Silvercreek Realty Group.
Jeff is passionate about the outdoors; whether it’s hunting, fly fishing, boating, snowboarding, or skiing. He played competitive soccer through his college years and has since shared that passion with others by professionally training players from youth through college levels. A strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, Jeff also brings entrepreneurial experience as the founder of the Idaho Sushi Company, launched right here in Star. Earlier in life, he also served a two-year mission in Washington, D.C.
Community service has always been at the center of Jeff’s life. He has coached and trained coaches for Star Parks & Recreation soccer programs, served as a Chaplain with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, and is a member of the Star City Impact Fee Advisory Committee. As a bishop in his church for five years, Jeff carried responsibility for the spiritual and temporal welfare of 350 members, managing finances, counseling families, and overseeing teams of leaders. He also helped lead efforts to send multiple shipping containers of supplies to Ukraine through JustServe.
Jeff has a special tradition in Star as well; each Christmas, he saddles up his horse, dons a Santa suit, and rides through neighborhoods handing out candy canes, while visiting local businesses to spotlight and promote them through social media.
Jeff Wood is deeply invested in the people and future of Star. His life reflects service, leadership, and a genuine love for the community he calls home.
Why Jeff is Running
I’m not a politician—I’m a people person. I thrive on human connection and believe that everyone has unique value. Discovering and celebrating that worth in others is something I’m deeply passionate about.
My decision to run for Star City Council stems from the encouragement of current council members and my love for this amazing city. Star’s small-town charm and close-knit community are what make it so special, and I am committed to helping preserve and enhance those qualities. Over the years, I’ve contributed to our community in many ways, including volunteering with Parks and Recreation, serving as a member of the Star City Impact Fee Advisory Committee, and helping with events like the 4th of July celebration. I’ve also worked closely with our local law enforcement through the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, which has given me a deep appreciation for their role in maintaining our community’s safety.
I’m a firm believer in fiscal responsibility, both personally and professionally. As someone who lives nearly debt-free and values financial stewardship, I understand the importance of maintaining a balanced budget. As a landowner and homeowner, I also deeply value property rights. While I recognize that growth in Star is inevitable, I believe that managing growth thoughtfully and ensuring diversity in development is critical to our city’s success.
I’m a real person with no hidden agendas or aspirations for higher political office. I simply want to serve the community I love and help Star continue on its positive trajectory. Together, we can ensure Star remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
